CASE STUDY
Challenge: Create a virtual immersive experience of cave 45 (8th century) to be presented as a major feature in the Cave Temples of Dunhuang exhibition at the Getty Museum Los Angeles, California.
CONTEXT
We were engaged to deliver a technology that could immerse visitors in a virtual experience. The caves are known as the Mogao (peerless) Grottoes. From the 4th to the 14th century, Dunhuang bore witness to intense religious, commercial, and cultural exchange along the trade routes linking the East and West, known collectively as the Silk Road. UNESCO World Heritage Site.
WHAT WE DID
Flannery and associate Roland Feuer introduced the filmmakers yU.co to Micloy 3-D stereoscopic technology which supports projection onto spherical surfaces. The result is a more fully immersive experience.  Flannery also served as stereographer.
IMPACT / RESULTS
This exhibit at the Getty in Los Angeles broke all visitation records to date. The most popular feature in the exhibition was our 3D Immersive Experience.
